Gallery Granary

Presentation of the Granary Gallery
The former Baroque granary is located in the historic center of Valašské Meziříčí, in the grounds of the Žerotínů chateau.
Together with the western wing of the Renaissance chateau and the former prison chapel, built in the neo-Romanesque style in the middle of the 19th century, it defines the space of the so-called rear chateau courtyard. The process of revitalization of the originally farm building, which lasted more than ten years, was successfully completed in 2006.
Most of the space in the building is reserved for exhibition purposes of the Municipal Gallery Sýpka on three floors of the building, ie about 65% of the total area.
The first concept of the exhibition was inspired by the ideological content of the Gateway to the Beskydy Mountains project and focused on the idea of an authentic and attractive presentation of the landscape, cultural and artistic richness of the region. The city invited the Museum of the Wallachia Region in Vsetín to cooperate on the scenario of the exhibition and its realization.
And so on January 9, 2007, the exhibition of the Wallachian masters, from the collection of Adolf Suchomel, ceremoniously opened the activities of the Sýpek Gallery.
For further conceptual, program preparation of exhibitions and its professional level, an association was temporarily established to replace the curator of the city of Valašské Meziříčí – the commission of fine arts. Thanks to the activities of the commission, the concept of Sýpka began, trying to exhibit high-quality artists, young talented artists and to present the studios of various universities. The Sýpka gallery space was divided into three exhibition departments. The attic gallery belongs to a longer-term presentation of historical artistic personalities of the region (change every 2 years).
